Artist's Statement: I spent
most of the first part of my life in China, got evacuated to the Philippines, and finally came back to the U.S. by the time
I was 6. I've been drawing since old enough to hold a pencil. My college degree and teaching certification
was in art and I taught school art first in Oklahoma and then Colorado.
Marriage and children interceded so working at art commercially out of my home became the solution.
I did free-lance art, advanced calligraphy and lettering, and commissioned work for various printers and other clients.
Lettering is often a component in my art, either as formal calligraphy or free-hand lettering.
Various original or quoted verbal statements seem to amplify many of the drawn images as integral parts of my pictures.
I've illustrated some of my own original poetry in larger pictures and also in book format.
I've
entered many art shows and earned ribbons, awards and special awards such as "People's Choice", "Best of
Professional" and "Best of Show". I'm a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America.
My favorite summation of my art is that, "it's akin to breathing for me, something I could never
choose to lay aside."
